What we do

Stop AIDS Societies undertake awareness raising activities working alongside other student groups such as Medsin, UNYSA, People and Planet, NUS, SPW and ActionZone. We believe that young people can make a difference by building youth solidarity, training them to act as catalysts for change, and empowering them to find solutions and strengthen political will.

Stop AIDS Societies

Societies and groups on university campuses are responsible for getting students involved in the campaign, and they do this in all sorts of ways - including through talks and speaker events, fundraising, social events with an AIDS theme such as Bristol’s annual’Singing for Sex’, and through the student media.

To find out who’s doing what and when, for new ideas for your own Stop AIDS group, or if you’re thinking of setting one up at your university, look at the individual websites for each group or the Society Contact list. You’ll also find latest news on what’s happening across the country on this website - look at our homepage and news page.

Be-aware

An important additional message of the campaign encourages students to be aware of their own behaviour and where to seek help should they need it. SAS also look for opportunities in their local community to engage in voluntary work.

This may involve supporting sex education lessons in schools or volunteering for local HIV related organisations.
