World AIDS Day (or WAD) is held on the 1st December each year. It is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.

This year the Stop AIDS Campaign was formally accepted as a priority campaign for Medsin societies at a national Medsin conference. This means that on top of all the Stop AIDS Societies campaigning for the patent pool we also have lots of Medsin societies which have taken up our campaign.

As Diarmaid is leaving, SPW is currently recruiting for a programme coordinator to manage its campaigns and advocacy programmes including the Student Stop AIDS Campaign. After 6 weeks on the road the speaker tour has finished. We have visited 21 universities, the House of Commons and the Department for International Development and we have spoken to over 800 of you around the country.
