Hello societies! My name is Tom and I’m the Medsin National Stop AIDS Campaign coor
dinator for this year.
Medsin, for those of you who aren’t sure, is a network of students who care about healthcare issues. Medsin branches support and run projects (e.g. Marrow), campaigns (e.g. Stop AIDS) and events at universities across the country. However some of the Medsin recognised projects and campaigns operate independently from Medsin branches; which happens a lot with Stop AIDS as it’s so awesome!
So where do I fit in? Well, essentially, I’ll be looking out for the interests of Stop AIDS within Medsin. From time to time, I might want some feedback or information from you guys about your society. I want to build up links with allied projects and campaigns in the Medsin network so that we can work together on common issues. I will also be involved with our national steering committee, attending Stop AIDS Campaign meetings and helping to plan certain events throughout the year.
Some of you may already know me from my role with Sheffield Stop AIDS over the past few years. I was involved in founding the society and was president for 2 years. I have worked closely with SPW, and know Diarmaid well, so I’m really looking forward to this role and getting to know all the societies.
