UNITAID have finally appointed someone to lead the taskforce investigating the establishment of a patent pool! The even better news is that they’ve appointed Ellen T’Hoen, who has left her role at MSF – where she led calls for the establishment of a patent pool – to take up the new position. Now that someone is in position we’ll need to keep an even more careful eye on developments to ensure we get as effect a patent pool as possible…

Ellen has recently written a book on pharma power which, in the spirit of shared knowledge and understanding, is available to download for free from the MSF website.
