My good god have we been busy! the plans for WORLD AIDS DAY ARE AS FOLLOWS! (written in future tense, this was a post from our facebook group meaning only BSMS e-mail address holders could access it).
From Thursday through Saturday, our campaign as a Coalition with Sussex Stop AIDS will be doing our biggest push for campaigning ever.

Laura and Chris are going to Parliament tomorrow to meet with Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for International Development, Des Turner MP (Brighton Pavillion) and Vernon Coaker MP (Gedling, Nottingham) to discuss the global AIDS crisis.

On Friday a bunch of us are going along to support Sussex university’s Tree Lighting Vigil, Library Square, at 4pm where Chris will be giving a short talk about the Stop AIDS Campaign and the problems we are trying to fight. Nicola and Chris spoke with representatives of an online branch of Channel 5 about the Campaign.

Friday evening is Aural Love, a metrosexual -”anything goes” World AIDS Day indie music Social organised by the lovely Justin and Tasha of USSU/UBSU Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered Queer/Questioning Society (LGBT(Q)) @ Concorde 2 (see link below)

Saturday sees Falmer House, Sussex University, taken over by the four Essential Campaigns and a few others who are running workshops throughout the day.

-Izzy will be doing a general intro and playing bits of a DVD that World Vision made for Stop AIDS as a little gift;

-Chris and Rebecca will be talking about the deplorable treatment of refused HIV+ asylum seekers (with there being both public health and moral arguments to give them free access to ARV’s);

Saturday evening at 6pm we will be encircling the Tree in Library Square with a giant AIDS Ribbon in total silence to mark the event.

Falmer House will then have bands playing that evening.
