On 22nd May 2007 members of the Stop AIDS Campaign presented Tony Blair with 10,000 action cards and a specially made, ‘This is Your Life’ Book to remind him of all the commitments he’s made to fighting HIV and AIDS and all the work he still needs to do to ensure that these commitments are not broken. Former Manchester Student Stop AIDS Society Campaigner, Ellie Messham, and Rafi Rogans-Watson from BSMS Student Stop AIDS Society and current Medsin Stop AIDS Campaign Coordinator were among the delegation presenting to No. 10.

‘We wanted to present Blair with a reminder of all the supportive speeches and historic commitments he has made and to challenge him to live up to them.’ Said Katy Athersuch of the Student Stop AIDS Campaign. ‘With Gordon Brown taking over as Prime Minister it’s important that the political will to fight the pandemic is not lost.’

The G8 summit in June will be one of Blair’s last appearances on the world stage as the British Prime Minister. Stop AIDS campaigners hope he holds the other G8 leaders to account on the promises they made in 2005 and that the funds to ensure universal access are committed, the trade barriers overcome and the political will demonstrated. All eyes are on the G8 to live up to their commitments!
