BSMS Stop AIDS is still in its embryonic stage, but we’re growing up fast!

Unfortunately, without a committee and with WAD taking place around the time of exams for us, it was hard to organise any events so we mainly had to enjoy the Sussex Stop AIDS day, who had teamed up with Unisex and Amnesty International on campus. Having said that, with unmanned stalls set up both in the med school on campus and near the hospital for 3rd and 4th years, we managed to raise over £40 from red ribbons, and get about 70 signatures on the letters our 2 local MPs (asking for their support in urging the government to take urgent action to fulfill its promises to achieve HIV treatment for all by 2010). Encouragingly, both MPs have signed the Access to Treatment EDM.

Rafi.
