WAD
WAD was a great success and despite the awful timing for our uni (everyone has exams on or around the 1st!), we were involved in a number of initiatives in and around Edinburgh:

The Stop AIDS campaign’s very own Steve Cockburn did a fantastic talk at one of the unions

There was a WAD awaremess seminar hosted by ESCA (Edinburgh Students’ Charities Appeal) and a local AIDS charity, Waverly Care. Again a huge success and some fascinating speakers from all around the world.

A gig night involving some great local bands with all profits going to Waverley Care followed by a club night involving lots of red face paint and condoms being stuffed into locals’ handbags!

One of the highlights of WAD was a media event outside the main University Library… Entitled ‘Too Poor to Pay’ and involving a collaboration between Peope and Planet and Oxfam Scotland. Kind enough to attend were the following MP’s…
Mark Lazarowicz MP, Gavin Strang MP, John Barratt MP, Colin Fox MSP, Sarah Boyack MSP, Mike Pringle MSP, Margaret Smith MSP and Mark Ballard MSP.

Quite a turn out! The press release can be seen here:

The stanard flash mob event was a great way of dragging in randoms of the street to get involved and get interested and a great way to end a successful week of campaigns…

AND NOW…

This page will be updated with all our events as they happen… Keep reading and keep in touch!

Cheers!
